General Education Reform: Unseen Opportunities | Academic Impressions
Last spring, Academic Impressions conducted a survey of 300 institutions involved in revising general education and from that group identified 25 that had been mentioned as having an edge in general education reform. In-depth research and interviews were conducted during Summer 2013. From that group of 25, four schools were chosen based on the comprehensiveness, intentionality, and distinctiveness of their approach to re-envisioning general education. Champlain’s outstanding work in the Core Division, along with programs at Portland State University, University of South Carolina, and Chaffey College, is featured in the resulting white paper, which has been distributed nationally. Dean Betsy Beaulieu will be a keynote speaker/conference facilitator at the Academic Impressions national conference that is being planned as a follow-up to the white paper; that conference is scheduled for January 2014 in Chicago, IL.
