“BIRGing 2.0: Status consumption in the digital age”
Dr. Charles Aaron Lawry
Assistant Professor, Marketing
Robert P. Stiller School of Business
Monday, December 2ndMorgan Room, Aiken Hall, 12:00-1:30 p.m.
Status consumption is the purchase or acquisition of luxury goods and status brands in order to fulfill a consumer’s desire for prestige. Consumer researchers traditionally have examined status consumption within physical stores and orthosocial (face-to-face) settings. However, online shopping and digital marketing occur within social media and cyber space. Then, how exactly does status consumption unfold in the absence of a physical store or orthosocial setting? In order to address this question, come join Professor Aaron Lawry in a discussion of his recently published and forthcoming empirical research on status consumption in the digital age.
