Champlain Theatre Presents Sweeney Todd

Champlain Theatre to Present

Sweeney Todd, The Demon  Barber of Fleet Street

Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Book by Hugh Wheeler

Based on “penny dreadful” stories of the 19th century, Sweeney Todd has it all — revenge, obsession, madness, love, death, food, and bucking the system in a dog-eat-dog world.  Sweeney Todd has returned from wrongful imprisonment to avenge his wife, his daughter, and himself, and encounters a cast of characters in Industrial Revolution London who might help or thwart him — but is he a hero or a villain?  Will his obsession take him too far? You might never get a shave or eat a meat pie again, after seeing this chilling musical by Stephen Sondheim.  By turns comic, tragic, and almost operatic, this show will appall and enthrall you. Director Kerry Noonan and Music Director Ashley O’Brien steer a talented cast of students and local actors in this Champlain Theatre production.SweeneyToddLogo
